We both really enjoy spending time with kids. It's fun to see the world through kids' eyes. We are lucky to have many wonderful kids in our lives, and would like to have a child as part of our immediate family too. It would be rewarding to help a child grow and find his or her place in the world.
Having a child biologically didn't work for us. We have several friends and relatives who were adopted or who have adopted, so we know at least some of both the joys and the challenges that adoption brings. We would like to build our family that way too.
We know that this is not an easy decision, and we admire you for considering adoption. We are really grateful that you would consider us as adoptive parents. We believe that an important part of helping a child understand his or her adoption is sharing our admiration and respect for your decision.
Above all, we are excited to think about adopting, and we are open to a number of possibilities. We most often picture ourselves adopting a baby (up to six months or so) of either gender. We would prefer to have some contact with the birth family, but we would see what makes sense for both families and for the child. We are happy to consider children from a range of backgrounds and children with minor medical issues.
