More about Brian and Karen
We met at a five-mile race when we were students. Brian finished the race 15 minutes before Karen. Karen wanted to be a faster runner, so she asked Brian if he would run with her more often. Karen got faster, and we got to know each other. We started dating about six months later.
We have been married ten years, and we still go for a run together on many weekends, although now we are slower. We live in Washington, D.C., near several relatives including Karen's parents. We ride our bikes to work most days, and we love being able to walk lots of places in our neat old neighborhood, or to catch the subway if we want to leave the car at home.
Both of us have worked for the government since we finished school. Our jobs give us quite a bit of flexibility to take time off when we adopt, to work part-time in the future, or even for one of us be a stay-at-home parent.
We have fun going to the movies, watching the Washington Nationals baseball team, traveling, and visiting the beach in the summer. We recently added bowling to our list of hobbies.
We love kids, including nine nieces and nephews, friends' kids, and the kids that Karen teaches in Sunday school. We are excited to have a child join our family through adoption, and we are grateful to have friends and families who can relate at every step.
